Van Nistelrooy still expects Ronaldo to join Madrid

October 9, 2008

MADRID (SW) - Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy believes that Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo will one day make a move to Real Madrid.

In an interview with Spanish sports paper Marca, Van Nistelrooy said to expect that the Portuguese winger will join ‘Los Galacticos’ next summer, “or the one after”.

Ronaldo was close to a move this summer but Real Madrid and Manchester United never came to an agreement. After undergoing surgery, the forward recently made his return to the pitch.

The Portuguese star does have a long term contract with United, who seem anything but willing to let him go without a fight.

Despite this summer’s transfer rumours, Ronaldo’s popularity among United fans doesn’t seem to have received a knock.
