Toni to miss Fiorentina clash

MUNICH (SW) - Italian striker Luca Toni will not be fit in time to join Bayern Munich on their trip to his old team, Fiorentina. This was announced by the German side on Friday.

The two sides face in the Champions League on Wednesday, which is too soon for the forward who is still dealing with a rib injury.

"The healing process hasn’t been as fast as we initially hoped, so Luca Toni will definitely be out for the matches with Bielefeld and Fiorentina," said Bayern manager Jürgen Klinsmann.

"Our medical staff is intensively working with Luca. We hope that he returns to the squad as soon as possible."
