Yorke scores again, Trinidad advances to final round of World Cup qualifying

PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad – Thirty-seven-year-old striker Dwight Yorke scored his second goal in as many games and helped assure Trinidad & Tobago of a place in the final round of World Cup qualifying, leading a 3:0 victory over Cuba on Wednesday.

Yorke, competing in his sixth World Cup qualifying campaign, scored in the 69th minute, two minutes after Kenwyne Jones gave Trinidad the lead.

Keon Daniel added his fifth goal in qualifying in the 89th to send the Soca Warriors to the final round of CONCACAF qualifying with the USA, Honduras, Mexico, Costa Rica and El Salvador.

All six teams will learn their schedule for the final round when the draw is conducted Saturday in South Africa in conjunction with the Confederations Cup draw.

Trinidad finished with 11 points, four behind the USA in Group A of the CONCACAF semifinal round.

After winning scoring only one goal in three games, Trinidad recovered to win its last two matches at home, beating both the USA and Cuba by a combined 5:1.
