Louise Redknapp Gets Back to Work Two Months After Giving Birth

January 7, 2009

Mother of two Louise Redknapp goes back to work looking shattered apparently?!

The WAG arrived at Los Angeles International Airport today to film a new documentary.

The Daily Mail reckon Louise Redknapp looks shattered and pale, I personally just think it shows how naturally pretty she still is after a 10 hour flight.

Louise has said recently that despite being busy with motherhood, she was looking forward to going back to work…

‘As much as I adore my boys, I like work and having that independence, and I actually think I’m a better mother for it.

She adds: ‘It means that when I’m at home, my attention is focused on them completely.’

Louise is making a documentary about ‘pregorexia’, a condition when women are dieting and exercising to extremes during their pregnancies.

The presenter said: ‘It (filming it) affected me quite deeply, these women are carrying around such guilt, but they have an illness and just because they fall pregnant, that illness doesn’t go away.’

Juventus about to sign Gremio’s Felipe

January 7, 2009

TURIN (SW) – Italian giants Juventus are about to sign Brazilian wing-back Felipe Mattioni of Gremio, according to Itasportspress.

The agency reports that the player and his agent had a meeting with Juventus sporting director Alessio Secco on Wednesday, and add that the Old Lady should be only days away from officially announcing the transfer.

The 20-year-old Felipe made his Brazilian Serie A debut in 2008 and soon attracted interest of many European top sides such as Manchester United, Ajax and Juventus. This week, Gremio said that a transfer is unlikely but this now seems to have changed.

Negotiations with Juventus began in November, and the Italian side are reportedly set to pay 7 million Euros for the player.

Sampdoria want Inter’s Adriano

January 7, 2009

GENOA (SW) – Italian side Sampdoria are interested in signing Brazilian striker Adriano, currently looking to get away from Internazionale.

Sampdoria have only managed to score 15 goals this season and could certainly use someone to team up with Antonio Cassano in order to strengthen their striking force.

Club CEO Beppe Marotta revealed his plans in an interview with Mediaset Premium: "When Adriano is up and running he truly is a champion," he said.

The 26-year-old has been at Inter since 2001, but did have loan spells with Fiorentina, Parma and Sao Paulo since. Whether ‘Samp’ have a chance of signing the player remains to be seen, as the Nerazzurri don’t seem very willing to let him go during the January transfer window.

Ryan Donk’s WBA loan spell terminated

January 7, 2009

WEST BROMWICH (SW) – Dutch footballer Ryan Donk joined West Bromwich Albion on loan from AZ Alkmaar only six months ago, and is now sent back to the Netherlands as the Baggies are no longer interested in his services.

Donk’s representative Winnie Haatrecht commented on WBA’s decision in an interview with newspaper AD: "West Bromwich have to find more financial space, so the guys that don’t play often should look for another club."

Whether the 22-year-old defender returns to Alkmaar remains unclear, but he is likely to spend the rest of the season in his home country.

"Ryan won’t just play anywhere. You won’t see him move to Russia. But he’s 22 years old and if a club needs a central defender, there’ll be possibilities," Haatrecht added.

Donk formed part of the Dutch team that won the European Under-21 Championships in 2007, delivering the assist that allowed Maceo Rigters to net a last-gasp equalizer versus England in the semi finals.

Spurs on course for League Cup defence thanks to O´Hara

January 7, 2009

LONDON (AFP) – Tottenham moved within touching distance of defending their League Cup title after super-substitute Jamie O’Hara inspired a 4-1 win over Burnley in Tuesday’s semi-final first leg.

When Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp sent on O’Hara at half-time, Tottenham were trailing to Martin Paterson’s early goal and had been completely outplayed by Owen Coyle’s Championship team.

But O’Hara’s arrival sparked a remarkable transformation at White Hart Lane. The England Under-21 midfielder’s free-kick set up the equaliser for Michael Dawson and he scored Tottenham’s second himself before Roman Pavlyuchenko made it three for the Premier League club.

O’Hara wasn’t finished there and he layed on the fourth goal with another free-kick that Michael Duff headed into his own net.

It was a whirlwind spell that left Burnley bewildered and Spurs on the verge of returning to Wembley on March 1 to defend the trophy they won last year by beating Chelsea.

All Tottenham have to do now is finish the job at Turf Moor in the second leg in two weeks and they will be able to look forward to a final showdown against Manchester United or Derby.

Jermain Defoe received a warm reception when he was paraded to the Tottenham fans before kick-off ahead of his imminent transfer from Portsmouth, but the empty seats around White Hart Lane suggested the home faithful weren’t so thrilled by the prospect of more cup success.

Burnley had already claimed three Premier League scalps in the competition this season and those wins over Chelsea, Arsenal and Fulham made it clear they would be no pushover.

Just two minutes had passed when Clarets winger Chris Eagles burst clear down the right and fired just wide.

Eagles had served notice of his threat and the former Manchester United trainee punished Spurs for failing to heed the warning in the 14th mimute.

He surged into the penalty area past Gareth Bale and, as Tottenham’s defence stood statuesque, cut a cross back for Paterson to tap into the empty net.

Burnley’s 6,000 travelling fans went wild and Spurs almost went into meltdown. Eagles was tormenting Bale and whipped in another teasing cross that Robbie Blake glanced agonisingly past the far post.

Tottenham briefly sparked into life after 25 minutes, only to be thwarted by Burnley keeper Brian Jensen. The giant Dane looked beaten when Pavlyuchenko flicked Jonathan Woodgate’s header goalwards but somehow pushed the close-range effort away for a corner.

Yet Burnley won every 50-50 challenge in the first half and Aaron Lennon showed his frustration by thumping the ball into an advertising hoarding after another misplaced pass.

Redknapp responded by sending on O’Hara for David Bentley at half-time and it proved an inspired move.

In the 47th minute, O’Hara swung over a corner and Dawson rose above Clarke Carlisle to looped his ahead into the roof of the net.

Suddenly Tottenham were inspired and they went in front as O’Hara turned from provider to scorer six minutes later. Pavlyuchenko’s cross was glanced on by Luka Modric to O’Hara and his low shot crept in under Jensen.

O’Hara wasn’t just a thorn in Burnley’s side going forward. His presence in front of Bale subdued Eagles for the first time and shutout the visitors’ most creative force.

Bale’s alert clearance denied Chris McCann midway through the half and moments later Pavyluchenko put Spurs in complete control.

The Russia forward collected Bale’s 65th minute pass, skipped past Clarke and beat Jensen with a fine low strike.

The floodgates were well and truely open now and Spurs added a fourth two minutes later when O’Hara’s free-kick was headed into his own net by Duff.
