Rubin Kazan stay on top as CSKA beat Krylya

May 4, 2009

Krylya Sovetov lost 1-3 to CSKA Moscow on Sunday and leave the top spot in the Russian league to Rubin Kazan and FK Moscow.

A win was required for Krylya to reconquer their lead and initially, things went well as Yevgeny Savin put the home side ahead on 36 minutes.

But Vassili Berezoutski levelled two minutes after the hour and it didn’t take long for Brazilian striker Vagner Love to turn things around all-together, 1-2. The third and final goal came from Ouwa Maazou in added time.

CSKA’s Georgi Shchennikov was sent off eight minutes earlier.

With 14 points from 7 games, Rubin Kazan share the lead with FK Moscow. CSKA and Kryla follow in shared third place.
