Spartak jump to top in Russian league

Spartak Moscow jumped into first place in the Russian league thansk to a 0-3 victory at FK Khimki on Saturday. Pressure is now on Rubin Kazan to reconquer their lead.
With five Russians, three Brazilians, an Austrian, a Georgian and a Czech in the starting line-up, Spartak Moscow dominated the match at Khimki from the start and scored the opening goal through Welliton in the tenth minute.
Sergei Parshivlyuk doubled the advantage shortly before the break and striker Welliton added a third and final goal late on.
Spartak are now two points ahead of Rubin, who face FK Rostov na Donu on Sunday. Third-placed Zenit St Petersburg require a win against Spartak Nalchik in order to keep championship hopes alive.
After this weekend, there will be only four match rounds left to play in the Russian Premier League.
