Cesare Prandelli to sign a renewal with Fiorentina

November 12, 2009

Fiorentina are very keen on extending Coach Cesare Prandelli tenure with the club since the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) have shown interest in the coach as a replacement to Marcello Lippi after next summer’s World Cup finals.

Prandelli €1.8 million per year contract is due in 2011 and the Viola are drawing up a contract that would tie him to the club until 2014 to guarantee credible compensation lest he transfers to other clubs.

Prandelli is among the favourites to get the Italy job if Marcello Lippi decides to step down, as expected, after the World Cup in South Africa next summer. However, by signing a new deal until 2014, Prandelli, who enjoys a great relationship with the owners and the Della Valla family, would effectively be committing his future to Fiorentina.

Prandelli is currently the longest-serving coach in Serie A, as well as the longest in Fiorentina’s history, having been in place since 2005.
