Van der Meyde snubs Tigers deal

December 24, 2009

Former Everton and Inter Milan winger Andy Van der Meyde will not move to Hull City despite being unattached to a club. The Dutch player says he would rather move back to his native country than play in the English Premier League with Hull.

The 30-year-old has been without a club since the summer when he was released by Everton and it is thought the Tigers were willing to offer him a wage of £18,000 until the end of the season.

Van der Meyde has spent time with Sam Allardyce’s Blackburn on trial but the Dutchman failed to impress and could not secure a permanent stay in Sam Allardyce’s team.

“I will return to the Netherlands,” he told the Daily Star. “I could go to Hull, but I can’t see it happening.

“I miss Holland and just want to play football and not really earn an absurd salary.”

Van der Meyde only made 20 league appearances in four years for Everton.
