Giggs: “We don’t miss Ronaldo”

December 21, 2009

Ryan Giggs claims little has changed at Manchester United since Cristiano Ronaldo’s exit in the summer. Giggs knows United’s strenght lies in their team unity. “We have never been a one-man team and that’s why we don’t miss him at all.”

Ronaldo made a record move to Real Madrid this summer and his absence was expected to leave a gaping hole in United’s attacking arsenal, with a regular source of goals having been offloaded. However, the Red Devils have fared admirably and veteran midfielder Giggs believes Sir Alex Ferguson’s side are as fearsome as ever – regardless of the changes in personnel.

“Cristiano is one of the best players in the world but I have to be honest and say I haven’t noticed much of a difference since he left,” Giggs said in English paper The People.

In Manchester, nobody worried about Ronaldo’s transfer to Ronaldo. “We all knew Cristiano wanted to play for Madrid and when he got the chance he took it.

“He wasn’t a Manc and we knew one day he would leave, but there are no hard feelings – why should there be?

“He is one of the best I have ever played with and a really nice lad, but we knew Madrid was where he wanted to be one day and he got his wish, so good luck to him.”

Pressure is on Barcelona-Sneijder

November 5, 2009

Wesley Sneijder’s late winner against Dynamo Kiev (1-2) caused a dramatic turn around in Group F. Inter Milan started the day at the bottom of the group but thanks to the win they now have a one-point lead at the top with two matches to play.

Sneijder was a doubt to play in Kiev, but scored the decisive goal.

The Dutchman passed a late fitness test in order to start against Dynamo, netting the stoppage-time goal that secured a 2-1 victory.

Sneijder stated after the match that “the pressure is now on Barcelona.”

“There was a dose of good luck, but also lots of courage in this victory and I was lucky to score,” the 25-year-old playmaker told Sky Sports Italia.

“I’m very pleased because I managed to give my contribution tonight. This is an extremely important victory for us, now we have two games to get the three points necessary to qualify.

“Thanks to this victory we can go and play at the Camp Nou in Barcelona with a bit less pressure.”

Man Utd confirm Tevez to leave Old Trafford

June 21, 2009

LONDON (AFP) – Argentinian forward Carlos Tevez will leave English Premier League champions Manchester United, the club confirmed on Saturday.

Tevez’s two-year loan deal was set to expire this month because United have been unable to agree a transfer fee with the group of investors who own the economic rights to the Argentine forward.

United offered Tevez a new five-year deal that would have made him one of the highest-paid players at Old Trafford, but said he turned it down.

A statement from Manchester United said: “Following contact received from Carlos Tevez’s advisors last night, in advance of the deadline the Club set for concluding negotiations, Manchester United announces that Carlos will not be signing a new contract with the Club.

“The Club agreed to pay the option price of 25.5 million pounds and offered Carlos a five-year contract which would have made him one of its highest paid players.

“Disappointingly however, his advisors informed the Club that, despite the success he has enjoyed during one of the Club’s most successful periods, he does not wish to continue playing for Manchester United.

“The Club would like to thank Carlos for his services over the last two seasons and wishes him good luck for the future.”

The decision paves the way for Tezev, who has been linked to a number of top flight clubs in England including Liverpool and Manchester City, to relaunch his career in the Premier League. He has also been linked with a move to Real Madrid.

Despite playing a leading role in United’s success last season the Argentine complained of not playing enough. He was regularly used as a substitute.

Tevez last put on a United strip for the Champions League final in Rome, but had to watch from the bench as Barcelona took a 1-0 half-time lead.

Ferguson eventually sent the Argentina forward on as a half-time substitute but the Spanish giants went on to score another goal to win 2-0.

Chantelle Houghton Is Claiming The Credit For Jermain Defoe’s Recent Good Form.

January 26, 2009

Chantelle Houghton who has been dating Jermain Defoe since October thinks that she is not only improving his performance on the pitch but off it, he could be ‘The one’.

Maybe she should have made that ‘The next one’ after all, if he does make her dream come true and ask for her hand in marriage it will be the second time Chantelle has said ‘I do’.

Her first husband though is ancient history as Chantelle claimed “Now I’m totally over Preston and the time was right for me to meet Jermain”.

“Everything’s fallen into place for me. I must have a guardian angel sitting on my shoulder.”

The former Celebrity Big Brother star gushed about how she loved watching him play because all she does is look at his legs.

Chantelle says she has always had a thing for the Spurs striker and had seen him around before but he always had a girlfriend, this time though he was single and we just got on really well.

The pair met in a nightclub after Jermain had split from Danielle Lloyd who also previously went on Celebrity Big Brother……but that’s not all the girls have in common….fake hair, fake tan, fake nails, fake breasts……what a surprise!

Well, good luck to Chantelle who is not the brightest but she has certainly kept herself in the lime light and with her largely inflated chest she will no doubt work it well on the arm of Defoe.
