Panathinaikos win in Greek Super League
November 2, 2009

Panathinaikos rejoin Olympiakos at the top of the Greek Super League table following a 2-1 win over Panionios on Sunday.
Former Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse was of great influence for ‘Pana’, scoring the first goal from the penalty spot in the ninth minute. The penalty was caused by a foul from Souleiman Omolade, who was given a direct red card for the offense.
The Frenchman went on to find the target again just two minutes later, handing his side a comfortable 2-0 lead.
Sito Riera pulled one back for the visiting side in the 53rd minute, but Panathinaikos held on to their lead to collect the three points.
Panathinaikos and Olympiakos share the lead with 25 points each. The two rivals face each other on November 29th.

Greek Cup: Olympiakos beat PAOK in extra time
March 5, 2009
Olympiakos needed extra time to beat PAOK Saloniki and advance to the semi finals of the Greek Cup. Panathinaikos were knocked out by Panserraikos.
PAOK beat Olympiakos 1-0 at home but the Athens outfit achieved the same result in the return leg, with Diogo scoring the only goal in regular time.
The winning goal came in the 20th minute of extra time, and was scored by new signing Matt Derbyshire.
Panathinaikos lost 2-3 to Panserraikos after a goalless result in the first leg. Baykara, Ceh (2) scored for the away side, and Christodopoulos and Palazoglou (own goal) weren’t enough for ‘Pana’ to survive.
Asteras Tripolis beat Panionios 1-0 after doing exactly the same in the first leg. Adrian Bastia scored the only goal on 35 minutes.
AEK Athens had already secured access to the semi finals, beating AO Xanthi on away goals last month.

Panathinaikos and PAOK make no mistakes in Greece
February 22, 2009
Both Panathinaikos and PAOK Saloniki did what they had to do on Saturday to secure three points, as the two battle for second place in the Greek Super League.
Panathinaikos hosted Panionios in an Athens derby, and Dimitris Salpigidis scored the opener for the hosts on 66 minutes. Antonios Petropoulos made it 2-0 six minutes later and Fabian Estoyanoff’s goal for 2-1 in the 90th minute made little difference.
PAOK were heading for a goalless result against Iraklis Saloniki, but Pablo Contreras finally broke the deadlock on 79 minutes.
Both ‘Pana’ and PAOK still have a chance of winning the championship, but Olympiakos’ advantage is so big that the two sides aren’t likely to catch up.
